Kite Tuning

The amount of brake input needed varies with each size and model of Kite. Some like the Blade2 need very loose brake lines, others like the C-Quad need constant brake input to fly to their full potential and most, for example the Little Devil and Buster need an area in between to fly properly.

Ways to tell if your lines are the correct lengths:

Brake Lines Too Loose:

  • If the Kite overflys the zenith regularly in even slightly gusty winds,
  • If the Kite does not reverse, or turn when one or both brakes are applied.

Brake Lines Too Tight:

  • If the Kite does not take off easily with a steady pull back of the arms,
  • If the Kite takes off slightly then begins a death spiral,
  • If the Kite does not fly completely to the zenith.

How to correct the problem:

Brake Lines Too Loose

  • Ensure both brake to brake, power to power, power to brake lengths are equal,
  • Tie knots in the handles or bars leader lines as shown below, and move the brake lines further along towards the handles.
  • Tie knots in the handles or bars leader lines as shown below, and move the power lines further away from the handles.

Brake Lines Too Tight

  • Ensure both brake to brake, power to power, power to brake lengths are equal,
  • Tie knots in the handles or bars leader lines as shown below, and move the brake lines further away from the handles.
  • Tie knots in the handles or bars leader lines as shown below, and move the power lines further along towards the handles.
