How To Attach Flying lines To A kite
So you have just got a kite and now there is that issue of how to attach the lines to the kite. First of take your sleeving loop and you need to learn how to make a 'larks head knot': As shown in the diagram below.
This loop you have made now attaches onto the bridle of the kite, and you pull on the sleeving and it tightens up.
This same larks head is also how you attach your flying lines to your handles, by just attaching it to the leaders (the "rope" coming out of the handles, and knotted at the end)

How To Recognize Line Strengths:
If you have a quad set of lines that came on winders, but they do not mention the line strengths or any identifying marks on them; then there is a simple way to tell:
The general rule of thumb is that when you have your kite lines out, you can actually feel/see the difference in the line poundage. Just take the line between your finger and feel it. The greater the strength the greater the width of the line. If you are not sure, please seek the advice of your local kite shop or a friendly flyer. You do not want to be flying your kite on the brake lines, as you mistook them for the mains!
