Introduction: |
I have only been out with the kite twice due to the lack of wind! I was fed up of waiting for wind so decided to go down to setup the kite anyway. There was literally no wind but both the 10m and the 14m flew incredibly well. Stable, fast and smooth even in the lack of wind. The lines were already attached to the bar so it was simply a case of unwinding the lines and matching the numbers on the lines to the numbers on the bridles. I didn't have my harness with me as I didn't expect to be flying so I flew both kites in 2 line mode. I had the trim fully in to increase the speed and allow more air to get into the kite which was vital considering the fact there was no wind. Both kites were fast, and the power was really impressive with even a few skuds coming in to play. |

Packaging, Style + Construction: |
The 'technical back pack' impresses me no end! It's big enough even for the 14 and will easily allow space for food, pads, etc. There is a pocket within the top which is great for phone, wallet etc. and the padding on the back is second to none. There are also chest and waist straps to reduce the weight bearing on your shoulders. It all adds up to make a top bag. Then you open the bag up and there is a package containing manual, spare bridles and repair material. Great stuff! The kite is packed with a compression strap and the bar and lines are in a separate package with chakera ties around them to keep everything tidy! I got the bar out in the lounge to look at. (You know what its like when you've got a new toy!) and it's a quality bit of kit. The bar is tapered and not quite circular which makes it really nice to grip. The ends are shaped so that the lines actually stay put when you pack the kite up which is nice! There is also an elastic loop to ensure that the lines can' come off. The leaders are usual Ozone quality with some sort of clever knot sewn into it to attach the hand brake line to and another one to wrap around the bar when you are rebooting the safety system. That's a top addition as it stops the kite trying to take off when you're rebooting the safety system. Then when I got to Baiter to setup the kite I opened it up and the first think that struck me was the material was unlike any that I've seen on a kite before. Sort of like Gortex. It felt heavier than chakera and with a waxy feel to it so I presume that it's not going to absorb water which is always a bonus. The bridles were top notch as usual with an extra pulley this year which helps with the turning. The logos and text on the kite are quality! Real nice finishing touch. |

Jumping: |
I haven't really had much chance to jump as I've only been out in light winds but I managed to get a few when kite skating. Really smooth floaty jumps and easy to redirect. Definitely feeling lighter on the bar when you're in the air. I'll update this after going out in some more wind. |

Final Summary: |
The depower, as usual, is great and the build quality is second to none. The new material looks to be tougher than ever. The bar is a massive improvement on last year's with a centre hole instead of the clamped hole. The safety system is incredible and super easy to activate and replace afterwards. The kite flies fast through the window and the turns are really really nice. It sits at the zenith with ease. Very stable and very easy to use. Everyone that has tried mine has loved it and even beginners have taken to it really well. I like the feel of the kite mainly because of the simplicity of it. You can literally put it where you want it and it will pull. I can see massive jumping potential with it. It flies well all round the window meaning that going upwind is easy. Overall a superb kite. Well chuffed! |
