Introduction:

The Psycho was marketed as the high performance kite of the year with the most hangtime and lift with a smooth handling and good stability.

Packaging, Style + Construction:

The bag is the standard FS affair, blue and black, a strap for your board, expandable backpack via the zip and it fits all of my kitejunk in! (12.5 psycho, 7.3 frenzy, gin yoz 2.6 harnass and some drinks too!) The control is done via a 56 cm long control bar with a spinning leash. The bar is color coded so easy to recognise left and right on your bar. The spinningleash works great but the centreline will need replacing more often, the friction of leash and bar isn't too good for my line... The bar has a double pulldown trimmer so if you pull the yellow strap you depower, pull in the blue one and you have your power back! the control is the same as on any other kite, pull in and you go up, push out and you will come down. There are three lines and the centre line splits once to the depowerknotline and the V lines and 60cm later at the end of the depowerknotline into the two wac lines. There are two settings on the depowerknotline. The rear is for more power and lift but will give less stability, with the front knot you'll have a much more stable kite with less power and lift. The bridling is very neatly sewn. and so is the rest of the kite. the build quality is very very very good. even better than on my frenzy which is some doing.....

Jumping:

With a board it is just put the kite in to the zenith, pull in the bar and up you go!  without a board you can still pop massive jumps. Just run a little to the right, redirect the kite from 13:00 to 11:30 yank in the bar and up you go. with almost no effort. The height of the jumps isn't too good with the 12.5 but the float you get makes it all up. Easily popping 5 second jumps out of a pendulumjump!

KiteATB’ing:

If you can feel wind, you can mountainboard with this kite. Just corner it and give a few pumps on the bar and off you go. with a nice bit of wind you will notice a problem. When riding it just pulls and keeps on pulling harder and harder...  at this moment you schould depower completely and do a powerslide otherwise youll be finding yourself faceplanting. The pull is tremendous...

The kite is not very reactive to bar input in low winds but in 3bft you have very good control over the kites movements with one hand.

Water Use:

Been on the water just twice so can't really recommend here. One very bad habit is that the bridling sometimes folds over the kite so the kite is no longer controllable, now you have to use your safety and land it and have someone get the bridling straight. But I think this is just my expertise (ahum)

Final Summary:

Great kite for boosting big jumps and parked riding. Not too stable but a great kite for me to board with. I would give the kite an 8 out of 10.
